What are the minimum requirements to apply for a job? [ Top] The basic entry level is to sail as Steward. For this, you require the following certificates: 1. STCW95 Personal Safety and Social Responsibility 2. STCW95 Personal Survival Techniques 3. STCW95 Elementary First Aid 4. STCW95 Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting 5. ENG1 Seafarer Medical

I used to work in the Royal Navy, are my certificates valid for the Merchant Navy? [ Top] No, you need to contact the MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) for information about getting them converted to Merchant Navy standards – www.mcga.gov.uk
My medical certificate is out of date, where can I renew it? [ Top] Book a medical with our MCA approved Doctors in Glasgow or Southampton.
Otherwise visit the MCA website to find a list of approved doctors in your local area.
That type of vessels do you supply crew to? [ Top] Ferries: Including Freight RoRo, Passenger RoRo Offshore Vessels: Including Anchor Handling, Platform Supply Tankers: Including VLCC, Chemical, LPG, LNG, Product, Standby, DSV, Coastal, Oil Research Vessels Buoy Tender Dredgers
What are the length of contracts available to me? [ Top] Ongoing temporary work is available, often at short notice. The length of trip varies with vessel type and company. We recommend that you telephone us with your availability to be considered for these positions. Click here to contact us.

How do I go about applying for jobs? [ Top] View our latest vacancies and apply online. If there are no jobs available to suit your skills, then you can register to receive jobs by email.
Or phone our offices to discuss latest vacancies for temporary and permanent jobs.
Once registered, what is required from me? [ Top] You will need to phone our office regularly to keep us up-to-date with your availability, otherwise we presume you are no longer looking and will archive your file.
What happens when I get offered a job and I accept? [ Top] We make sure we have all your correct personal details, including bank details for payroll, and next of kin etc. We will tell you exactly where and when you are joining the ship and give you travel details to get there.
How will I get paid? [ Top] Most seafarers are paid through our offshore payroll department – Clyde Marine (Guernsey).
